A little background...
Port Security Bill introduced but did not go far enough at all. Still just scratching at the surface.
Dem leadership - Senator Reid - introduced an Amendment to the bill that will address a ton of real security measures including reporting to the Congress so that the Congress can do oversight.
The Pukes have been throwing a fit. Blah, blah, blah partisan, blah, blah, blah spend people's money...same old rhetoric.
Remember how they are just so tough on Ntl Security? My ass.
Reid's amendment offers, among other things, to implement all of the 9/11 Commission report recommendations.
Senator Collins said - "this is out of order" then Senator Murray made a motion to wave the budget point of order so that they could vote on this amendment rather than table it.
They are voting now. I suspect that it will be straight Party line.
It is important to call your Senators right now and demand that they allow a vote on the Reid Amendment.
