Camp What?!

Did y’all know that there are three weeks of protest currently taking place in Washington DC? Probably not.

“The revolution will not be televised.”

The schedule of events can be found here. These events are coordinated through Camp Democracy.

I have been stating for a very long time that this mode of protest – blogging – although it is extremely cathartic and it is very educational, it diminishes the need of people like us to get together and share our outrage and actually do something about it.

Because we have this outlet for our rage, frustration and disgust we do not meet in kitchens or student unions or church basements. We do not get together and formulate plans on how to take our Country back.

Of special interest at Camp Democracy is the Bush Crimes Commission. I recommend reading through this site. I recommend seeing what we are up against and what is at stake.

The trial of Don Rumsfeld, This Can’t Be Happening dot net, and After Downing Street dot org all have more evidence of what we need to protest against.

This Administration is the most enormous threat facing America and the world. People need to fully understand what our future holds if we do not stand up and take our Country back from the criminals.

Get outraged. Show up. There is no more important event in our lives. Many protests are happening around this Country.

United for Peace and Justice is a tremendous resource for events and local chapters.

If you are able to travel to DC, may the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be at your back.

I just heard Bobby Scott say in a Wed hearing that the Specter & Sensenbrenner laws are saying by default that the new laws 'imply that the President is breaking the law' or a new law would not be needed.

More laws to enforce the laws?????

  • At 4:13 PM, September 08, 2006, Blogger Anjha said…

No, OTF, a law to excuse the law-breaking.

    It is very simple.

    President broke the law.

In a Federal Court he was found to have violated FISA and the Constitution.

Now Senate bills S2453 & S2455 and House Bill HR5825 will make his law breaking legal.

They want to pass new laws that will make what he is doing OK.

    It is bullshit.

Call the Congress 1-888-355-3588 and demand that your Reps and Senators denounce this legislation.

Got spam? Sheesh, it's been hella week for that crap. And yes, I just heard about this stuff today. I'm glad everyone's on this 9-11 movie, but there's lots of other stuff going on, too!

Holy Crap Coyote - reading the Horowitz behind this movie and the spin about the "Democrats" blocking it...currently Levin is on the SPAN talking about phase 2 of the Intel report - damning, damning evidence and it is all being buried by this propaganda crap.

    We are really in trouble.

This needs to be a big fight. The Progressives must stand up to these attacks. We have to take our Country back.

    It is truly frightening.

This is building activist momentum, though, and the 'puke spin isn't having the desired effect, I don't think. People are too jaded anymore to fall for the fearfirefoes scare anymore. If the dems can keep up this attack momentum, November will be a win for we the people.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could substitute the phrase "we-the-people" everywhere for "liberal" or "progressive" or "democrat?" As in - "this is a win for we-the-people!" Soon we'll just have the acronym WTP everywhere, like in V for Vendetta.

    Okay, I've had a couple beers...what??

    Coyote, that is brilliant.

Let me work on that - let me see what kind of marketing/branding that we can do.

Dems - the Party of We the People.

"Wink, wink." That can't mean anything good.

People are too jaded anymore to fall for the fearfirefoes scare anymore.

I was considering this tonight but have learned my lesson.

I think this kind of thinking or assumption has been a real detriment to dems. I know that this is what I believed when the shrub (is that tempus's word) was running for the second term. I couldn't imagine that anyone would believe stupid shit like the earth is only 3-4 K years old, there is no global warming, scientific method and theory are tools of the devil and employed only to brainwash children, all liberals are anti christian/god and family, gays are a threat to all and will destroy families etc...

We can't afford to make these assumptions about any of the rt's propaganda anymore.

I'm being called away from the computer by hubby so can't go on or run spell check.

Hope it makes sense-got to go NOW! "Damn it just wait a sec till I press send."

Gosh, I hope OTF's hubby's not on fire! No time for spell check, indeed!

I should have elaborated on my feeling that people are sick of being told to be afraid anymore - I think they're sick of the same old thing over and over, and seeing nothing being done. People are still afraid, anxious, worried, but not that bin laden's under the bed. It's more a general axiety about the world today, and while the 'pukes are giving them the V for Vendetta treatment "Remind the public why they need us!" The dems aren't offering an optimistic alternative - yet. So, you're right that we need to make more noise, not sit back and hope. We need to give hope. Make any sense?

    You mean Ignatius lied

    when he wrote this?

Ya mean there really is more death and destruction at the Iraq Occupation.

On that media bit from Camp Democracy, the end piece is Mimi Kennedy talking about the election fraud in CA 50th.

The bit is about an hour. I will be listening now while trying to get something up here.

Coyote, that is the thing about the Dems. The Dems offer hope. They always have.

When I listen to Clinton speak vs Bush the difference is stark. I realized last time that I heard Clinton that that was the biggest difference.

Clinton offers hope whereas W offers fear and danger.

The Dems offer hope for everyone. An America where we all have the same opportunities, the same shot at a dream and the dream is positive.

That is the difference and the Dems really need to do better in communicating this.

Anjha, I feel hopeful when I hear Dean speak, or Feingold. There aren't too many out there that can even compete with Clinton in that way. A coordinated message would be great, too.

Some people are better speakers than others. It is easy to get caught up in delivery vs content.

    We need both.
