Progressive Action Spot

"Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them. What I Should've Said

I had considered doing a weekly piece on Progressive candidates that I like. Hopefully encouraging people to throw a few bucks their way and bringing attention to what the future of our Country will be when we elect Progressive people to the Congress. Excuse me, while I attempt to get my shit together and stay focused on this daily blogging thing…this is what I should’ve said, before the rest of the blogosphere beat me to it.

Mainsailset reminded me this morning that I should’ve written about this guy a while ago; now he is all the buzz on WA State blogs.

Peter Goldmark (Dem WA 5th), first came to my attention last week when eriposte at TLC linked to the AFL-CIO political portal.

I thought that I would check out Washington State races. I had pretty much written off everyplace east of the mountains as red. It really did not occur to me that we had a chance of turning them blue. Peter Goldmark offers me hope that we can turn the whole state blue. Just look at his face – it oozes sincerity.

His race is gaining traction and I think that we can help to give it a kick.

Horses ass reminds us that he has been upgraded by CQ.

Evergreen Politics has a great rundown on Goldmark.

Peace Tree Farm says it all, with great links.

I also ran across this site, which is a great portal for Lefty Blogs, sorted by state.

Today’s action item is to support Peter Goldmark in whatever way possible. If you cannot throw a few bucks his direction, consider writing a letter to the editor of some of the papers in his district. This is an excellent site for sending letters to the editor. You can send as many as five at a time all through this website.

So much Progressive Action to take. So little time.

SOS, I am working on your post. I am attempting to keep it to one post a day so that all of my readers (3) will not become overwhelmed.

I also have to dedicate a couple of days a week to the many petitions that I have in my inbox, which was supposed to be the main purpose of this blog.

Also - I actually have to do some work today. Yes, there is that thing that sometimes buys some groceries for my family. They like to eat, what can I say?

I will be in and out today.

    Please take it away folks.

Any additional info that you can provide about Peter Goldmark or if you can offer any info on how he appears to be doing according to public opinion on the east side of the mountains that would be fab.

I really like what I have read about him. I have done a small search reading the local papers and I have not seen much regarding him.

Main, let me know what the talk is from regular people over there.

I have family on the east side of the mountains, Main. My husband's side. I cannot get much info from them though - my bro-in-law makes fish stories sound like the absolute truth (he is a delusioned liar to say the least.)

My brother was living over there when he died. In Winthrop. He was driving drunk and ran his pick-up off the North Cascades Highway.

His family is still there but I do not have any contact with them.

    He died in about 1992.

I am not a stranger to the desert part of the state.

I'll do some digging on Peter to bring over here, I've met him twice and have to say I was pretty skeptical at first but came away in total awe. Sorry to hear about your brother, Cascade Hwy is a monster even when sober. Gawd, have got to get some work done.

It was a year ago today that I attended my first political protest, ever! bu$h attended another invitation only event in El Mirage, AZ. I brought a cooler full of bottled water for those in need. One of my proudest moments!

It also happened on the day Katrina came ashore.

Why do I bring it up? Because we cannot stop protesting this mad man or his administration that is continuing to kill innocents.

Main, tell us the story about meeting him; what left you awe struck?

SOS - we have to keep fighting and protesting. It is up to us to take our Country back.

Main, it is sad, alcoholism would have taken him one way or another. I have always looked at it that it stopped his suffering.

    Anjha,

The site looks great. Sorry it took so long for me to stop by. I've been busy pissing people off over at L&L. Just a bit pissy these days I guess.

The site did load a bit slowly as per SoS's comment at L&L. But it looks great. Congrats!

    Snark, welcome!

I will have to unpack the good china now!

Google has been having a fit today...a whole bunch of Google server errors.

If it keeps loading slowly then I will remove the video.

I just think that the video is so much fun.

    We will see.

It is already 3 and I have not started working yet.

I just cannot get it together.

At least you can get it together to piss people off.

Anja, Lynn over at Evergreen has a new post up where she interviewed Peter that does a terrific job http://www.evergreenpolitics.com/ep/2006/08/peter_goldmark__1.html#more

By the way, you rounded up alot on him in pretty short order yourself!

I first met Peter when he came to a Dem caucus in April. Lots of buzz in the room so I decided to just watch him. He has a way of intently listening to a person, he doesn't mince words, his answers were almost Clintonesque in that he took each problem people threw at him, didn't tell them to go duct tape their house, but talked about taking, say the fallow fields of eastern WA where a farmer can't make a living anymore and turning that into a "National Security Crop". He is a curious man, quick to smile and invite people to make a difference with him. 2nd time I met him was a BBQ and I hit him up pretty hard about blogs, gave him books, lists of blog addresses, etc. I'll be damned if he didn't go for it and his campaign is now very blog oriented. Today the blogosphere is on fire about him and it's great to see. Thanks again.

I think focus on some of the local Progressive candidates around the Country will be good.

There are a lot of good people out there.

I get so frustrated when people try to tell me that "politicians are all the same."

    No, they are not.

There are a lot of good people in the Congress who I really like - dare I say, a couple are actuall Republican. The old style ones not these neo-con freaks.

Any suggestions on who to profile, throw them my way and we will do some research.

I never did any work today. I had people stop by. I did manage dishes and still working on the laundry. Tomorrow is another day.

I am sleepy. We got Narnia today, I think that we will watch it and go to bed early.

    Night all.

Anjha, The largest newspaper in AZ, the Republic, has endorsed repuke (former Avondale mayor, my hometown) Ron Drake instead of the Progressive Democrat incumbent Raúl M. Grijalva for AZ 7th district, my district. Grijalva is the by far the best choice for this district. I have met Grijalva, shook his hand, when I told him I was a disabled Vet, he gave me a big bear hug. We certainly don't need to replace the good congressmen who are doing their job, republican turds!

That last sentence should read "...with republican turds!"

SOS, lets write the editor of the paper. I'll look up the info.

    I got a post coming...

Letters to the editor of the AZ Republic can be written here.

There are a lot of reasons to write positive letters about Grijalva.

Note: Papers like letters that address a specific article. However, in the case of their endorsement for the Puke candidate, a complaint of that endorsement should suffice.

I have a couple of appointments today. And I must work.

I cannot dink around on the Nets all day.
